The capital city of Vermont is Montpelier. This area is not the largest city in the state, however. The largest city title goes to the city of Burlington instead.
The state is the 5th smallest state in the country, covering only 9,620 square miles. It is only 80 miles wide and 160 miles long. 3.8 percent of the state consists of water covered areas.
There is no official language in the state, but the most common language to hear is English. While the state is quite small, it is still home to over half a million people. It is the 30th most densely populated state in the country.
The highest place in the state is located at Mount Mansfield, which measures up to 4,393 feet. The lowest point is found at Lake Champlain, which falls to only 95 feet above sea level.
